SUPER INTENDENT SON Career


  SUN Li, born in 1955 in Beijing, is living in Tokyo, Japan.

  SUN Li is the descendant of the third generation of Yi Quan (also named as Da Cheng Quan), which is a genre of Chinese wushu. Mr. SUN is the President of Japan International Yi Quan Association, Head of Da Cheng Kan, Top Advisor and Special Shikan Master of Kyokushin Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan, Councilor of financial group agency Kyokushin Zaidan, etc.

 


  Mr. SUN loves calligraphy and painting since childhood. He learned both Chinese painting and western painting. Whereas when he was 11, he started the commitment to martial arts for the sake of self-defense. Mr. SUN practiced boxing at the beginning and turned to wrestling and Xing Yi Quan since 1968.  His involvement with Yi Quan started in 1973, and was instructed by Master YAO Zongxun in 1975. In 1992, Mr. SUN joined apprenticeship with Master Dou Shiming, who is the Honorary Deputy President of Beijing Yi Quan Association at that time and also a junior fellow apprentice of Master YAO Zongxun. Mr. SUN was instructed by the leading figure of Yi Quan, Master YU Yongnian, in the research of theory of Yi Quan and regimens since 1998. Mr. SUN began his life of Yi Quan instructor in Beijing, Hunan and Shandong during 1980 and 1986.

 

  Mr. SUN studied in Japan since October of 1986. With the arrangement of a famous Japanese sports journal, he had exhibition matches with the sanda champions of 60kg and 70kg levels of7th Dan by the Head of Lushan Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan in April of 2008. The 7th Dan was the highest level ever achieved by Chinese practioner around the world. At the request of Russian government and civic groups, the 3rd Chinese Sanda vs. Japan Kyokushin Karate Competition was held under the support of Chinese Wushu Association in Moscow, Russia in June of 2010. Commissioned by the Head of Lushan Kan in 2011, Mr. SUN was appointed as Chief Representative in China of Kyokushin Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan. He was employed as Top Advisor and Special Shikan Master of Kyokushin Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan in 2012. Japan. The match gained widely coverage by the journal of Chinese Wushu in Japan. Mr. SUN published a Japanese version of Introductory to Yi Quan in 1989. He joined Kyokushin Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan in 1994 and appointed as Special Shikan Master and Honorary Advisor. Mr. SUN has been invited annually to give lectures in Florence, Milan and Turin in Italy since 1995. He established International Yi Quan Association in 1996. Mr. SUN co-authored with Master DOU Shiming and published Founder of Yi Quan and Da Cheng Quan: Biography of WANG Xiangzhai in 1996. He also published four videotapes successively afterwards, including Wushu 1-3 and Regimens of Yi Quan. Mr. SUN was awarded with Honorary 5th Dan by Kyokushin Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan in January of 2002, which represented the highest honorary Dan for foreigners. Only Russia President Putin was award with 7th Dan by the Head of Lushan Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan in April of 7th Dan by the Head of Lushan Kan of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kai Kan in April of 2008. The 7th Dan was the highest level ever achieved by Chinese practioner around the world.   Mr. SUN has been doing instructing and research works in wushu in Japan since 1986. The total number of apprentices under his instruction reaches 10,000. The apprentices come from Japan, the United States, Italy, South Africa, Brazil, Australia, Russia, New Zealand as well as the regions of Hong Kong and Taiwan. Mr. SUN is determined to promote Chinese culture through wushu on the world stage and facilitate communication among global fans of wushu.
